Dr. B. Michael Smith is a highly accomplished dentist and a dedicated long-time San Antonio local. He graduated with honors from Case Western Reserve University School of Dental Medicine, affiliated with the world-renowned Cleveland Clinic.
During dental school (1995–1999), he earned numerous accolades including Clinical Accommodation for Excellence in Dentistry (all clinical years), Dean’s Accommodation (all four years), Dental Student Body President (1998–1999), Academy of General Dentistry Award for Excellence (1999), and was selected to give the Commencement Address for the 104th graduating class.
Even as a dental student, Dr. Smith volunteered at a free dental clinic in East Cleveland, often walking through cold nights to perform extractions for extremely underserved patients. This early experience laid the foundation for his exceptional skill in atraumatic surgical extractions and complex procedures.
With over 25 years of clinical experience, Dr. Smith focuses on root canals (especially molars), surgical extractions, buildups, bone grafting, and emergency palliative care. He is known for his gentle technique and meticulous attention to detail.
Personal Life: Dr. Smith has been happily married to his wife for 35 years. She serves as the Vice President of Operations at SATX Weekend Dental Emergency, and you may interact with her during your visit. Together, they have four adult children and two grandchildren. In 2004, they traveled to China to adopt their youngest child — an experience they describe as one of the greatest blessings for their family.
When not caring for patients, you will likely find Dr. Smith and his wife on the golf course enjoying San Antonio’s beautiful weather.
